Where my brows at?!

"It's complicated."

My human relationship with my brows. Information technology's complicated. I've been growing them out for what seems similar millennia (but has only been about a twelvemonth).

They're just and so damned moody! Moody little brows.

Weeks volition pass without then much every bit a peep out of them — no dramatic diva outbursts any. I'll go about my days filling them in with eyeshadow or a forehead pencil and be done in the blink of a fuzzy caterpillar'south centre.

Until…

They turn against me and get totally uncooperative.

It'southward weird…and information technology commonly happens overnight, like the follicles all had a meeting while I slept and voted to defection.

Suddenly, they all have their own little ideas and pass up to lay down correctly, and I commencement feeling like I have to employ more product than usual to go them to behave. Consequently, I end upwardly unintentionally crossing that invisible line that separates bold brows from Groucho Marx.

Told ya. Complicated.

Seriously, though, if your brows consistently behave, cherish it. You're lucky.

Mine accept been going through one of their spells… The outer tail areas (the sides closer to my ears) have been particularly ill-tempered lately, and I simply haven't been able to become them to look equally crisp or defined equally I similar with my usual slate of products, then I've been brainstorming possible solutions.

And I think I found one…

Instead of filling in each entire brow with a single product, I've been using a combination of two — a powder eyeshadow and a matte gel liner.

First, I fill in the inside half of both brows with a dark brown eyeshadow (usually MAC Brun) using an angled brush.

Then, I quickly clean my angled brush by wiping it across a paper towel, and use information technology to fill in the outer one-half with a matte gel liner. I've been using MAC Fluidline in Dipdown for this, a dark brown with a flat matte finish.

The consequence? Brows that start softly defined closer to my nose simply get progressively darker and crisper and more defined as they move out toward my ears. Natural, nevertheless bold, and non Groucho Marx, LOL!

Naturally bold brows, yo!

If you don't happen to have a gel liner on hand, any kind of long-wearing foam or gel brow filler should work fine. Alternately, you could replace the eyeshadow in this equation for a forehead pencil, if that's more than your style.

Try it quondam! Even if yous don't experience Broadway-caliber brow drama (lucky!), information technology might be fun to alter upwards your forehead routine.

That moment when you have central heating and hot h2o again…

OH, GLORIOUS YES!

No more than washing zombie apocalypse-way, WOO-HOO! Yep, my gas line is operational again, and I volition definitely not miss freezing my butt off tomorrow morning.

I have to say, though, that living without hot running water and central heating has given me a new appreciation for both of those things, as well equally an appreciation for flannel sheets.

My mom-in-law gave u.s.a. of some Martha Stewart Flannel Sheets for Christmas, and they've been wonderful this past week. They're super soft, warm and, wouldn't ya know it? — on sale now at macys.com, if yous're interested.

Your (finally warm once again) friendly neighborhood beauty aficionado,
